Headteacher's Welcome

Welcome and thank you for visiting Auriol Junior School website. It is an honour to lead the school. Auriol Junior is a three-form entry junior school in Surrey with a deaf resource base. We are proud to be a part of the Bourne Education Trust and work collaboratively with other primary and secondary schools across the Trust. Our motto Challenge, Inspire, Prepare is not just a set of words; it is a guiding principle that shapes the culture of our school.

We work tirelessly to create an environment where children are continually supported and challenged, fostering growth and development. Our rich curriculum and high quality teaching sparks curiosity and a desire for further knowledge in each child. At our school, children are given a wide range of opportunities where they may experience success and setbacks, nurturing resilience and adaptability. Our dedicated staff guide and support children in understanding their emotions and feelings, fostering their social and emotional development.

I know we are biased but Auriol is a great school. Children are happy and achieve well. Thankfully, Ofsted agreed :-)

Here are some excerpts from our recent (June 2025) Ofsted inspection:

'This is a school that fosters a caring ethos. Consideration for others is very important here. Regularly, the school urges pupils to self-reflect on their own and others’ feelings. Pupils behave well'.

'Pupils enjoy school and are happy here. The school recognises pupils’ talents and supports them to follow their interests'.

'The school has high expectations for pupils and supports them to reach their potential relentlessly'.

'Pupils achieve exceptionally well here. This is reflected in the school’s published outcomes in 2024, which are well above the national average. The ambitious, well-organised curriculum includes a wide range of subjects, in line with the national curriculum'.

'The school prepares pupils for later life exceptionally well...the school supports pupils to embrace and persist with challenge..the school emboldens pupils to push beyond perceived boundaries'.

At Auriol, we view education as a shared endeavour involving not just our children, staff and local governing committee but also parents and the wider community. We are dedicated to working collaboratively, ensuring that every child receives the support and care they need to thrive academically and emotionally.
